Music education is one of the best ways to develop a child’s creativity and sense of accomplishment.
A legacy of music education
The Paul J Gustat Fund was created in loving memory of Paul Gustat upon his death on October 17, 2013. Honoring his love of music and dedication to music education, the Paul J Gustat Fund was initially administered by the School Board of Highlands County through Sebring High School. Early in 2018, close friends and family of the Gustats approached the Champion for Children Foundation to enhance the fund and expand the program to reach additional students and provide assistance to all music programs throughout the district. In April of 2018, the "Prof" & Paul Gustat Music Fund was established, adding the beloved "Prof" Gustat's name in honor of his pioneering efforts and commitment to music education since 1925.
The "Prof" & Paul Gustat Music Fund, in partnership with Highlands County school music directors, assists local students participating in music education and band programs. Providing scholarships, financial assistance with instrument rentals and repairs, and additional support to school music programs, the purpose of the "Prof" & Paul Gustat Music Fund is to assist students desiring to participate in local school music programs and enhance our county's school music programs.
