The Champion for Children Foundation has been providing prevention programs and early intervention services to children and families in Highlands County since 1994. Prevention services and assistance programs protect children, educate parents, strengthen families, assist caregivers, reduce trauma, and provide resources. Positive support and engagement builds protective factors within families such as parental resilience, child/youth development, social connections, concrete support, and emotional competence of children. Such early intervention and assistance helps protect against various risk factors including homelessness, unsafe living conditions, unmet basic needs, unmet medical needs, emotional symptoms, and harmful behaviors.
